Philipp Gapsch, born on the 6th of July 1995, currently lives and works in his private atelier in Germany.

He describes his art as a journey into oneself because besides different social elements, he focuses first and foremost circumstances and situations of his personal life as well as sundry omnipresent feelings which are the most important subjects of his paintings. The art handicraft and to preserve traditions aren't as crucial as the expression and the processual approach of the own self.

Figurative representations dominate his artworks but nevertheless the painter is not averse to abstract compositions in combination with figurative ones. As a result he is taking part in the movement of the contemporary art scene. Different kinds of music and the uniqueness of New York City are amongst other things recurrent elements which constantly inspire, fascinate and influence the artist in his progress.

The artist predominantly paints with acrylics: By using various painting techniques notably the contrast between a linear-pictorial style and an impasto color application, likewise the usage of different materials – he creates an interesting surface finish which ensures a distinctive and striking character of many images.

The classical portrait drawing is also an important element of his artistic activity. Besides many works of related persons his portraits of well-known personalities are the core of the drawing work. These portraits are a sign for the appreciation and fascination for artistic processes, especially from artists of the music industry.
